About us

Mortgage Medics was established by Sam Murphy and Jon Bloomfield in 2007.  Their mission from the outset was simple –

“To provide quality independent advice and outstanding service, which is in your best interests and free from conflicts of interest.”

We love mortgages and we love helping people achieve their ambitions.  As such, we’re proud to say that we put care and honesty before profits. We adopt a whole of market approach, rather than choosing to deal with a small panel of companies. This means that we deal with all available providers when advising you about a mortgage or protection contract, including exclusive deals not available on the high street, and of course we won’t charge you for an initial consultation.

So whether you’re considering your first purchase, remortgaging, or even an experienced Buy-to-Let landlord, we have the experience, skills and determination to get the job done, and get it done well – from initial advice, to picking up the keys.

It's the people that make the business

  • Sam Murphy Managing Director

    Sam Murphy

    Managing Director

Sam was one of the founders of Mortgage Medics in 2007 and now oversees the day to day operations of the business. Sam started his career with The Woolwich in 2002 and has been advising on mortgages and protection since 2003. Immediately prior to Mortgage Medics, Sam had a successful spell as an independent mortgage adviser within an estate agency network, where he was inspired to create a place that thought differently about mortgage advice and was truly focussed on achieving the best outcomes for consumers.

Sam is also a trustee of Sussex Nightstop – a youth anti-homelessness charity – and an advocate for diversity & inclusion.

Outside of work Sam is a keen football and cricket fan, but says he’s at his happiest flying (or falling) down a mountain with a snowboard strapped to his feet.

Having gained his Financial Planning Certificate (FPC) in 1995, Jon has been offering independent mortgage and protection advice ever since, building up a loyal and trusting client base who come back to him time and time again.

Having previously worked for giants including BT, BMW & Mercedes, Ben is well used to recommending individual solutions, tailored to clients’ needs on a large and small scale, . Ben relished the chance to enter the financial services sector, particularly so that he could get back working with individuals to help achieve their goals.

Despite being a Spurs fan, Ben is a keen sportsman, and whilst his days playing football may be few and far between these days, he’s a qualified Snowboard Instructor and was learning how to Kitesurf before his two young children caused a temporary distraction from his extreme pursuits.  These days you will find him more at Pepper Pig World than Mont Blanc or getting tangled up in Kites on far flung beaches.
